Buyukada. Just off the coast of Istanbul lie the Prince’s Islands. Buyukada, the largest of them all, offers visitors a ride to the beach in quaint horse-drawn carriages. The blue-green waters are surrounded by netting, which keeps sharks out, but allows swimmers to share the water with playful little hamsi (sardines), tiny jellies, and other small fry. Afterward, head to one of the side streets for some of the tastiest seafood on the planet.
Anse Source d’Argent. Birders and nature lovers will gravitate to this beach. Home of the Veuve Nature Reserve, this beach hosts the endangered Black Paradise Flycatcher. Bring your camera to capture the natural beauty of its pink sands, rugged gray rock cliffs, and the blue-green surf.
