The unlocked OnePlus One earned four and one-half stars, but narrowly missed the magazine’s Editors’ Choice designation. At $299, it is a surprisingly affordable choice for those who need an unlocked phone. The sharp display on its 5.5-inch screen is excellent. It has GSM, UMTS, and LTE. It works on many networks worldwide, but the call quality is not up to par with the rest of the phone.
Verizon’s iPhone 6 Plus, unlike its smaller cousin, only earned four stars. It did, however, have some excellent features that helped it make the magazine’s A-list. As with all iPhones, it has a wide selection of apps. Its camera, too, is superb, even when light is fading at dusk. Its battery, however, could not even last 5 hours in the magazine’s tests.
